TEHRAN, June 5 (Xinhua) -- A senior Iranian lawmaker on Tuesday expressed doubts that his country's negotiations with the European parties over the 2015 nuclear deal would yield positive results.

"The prospect of the talks with the Europeans shows that the situation is not promising," Spokesperson of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Naqavi Hosseini told Tasnim news agency on Tuesday.

Iran should not waste time waiting for required action from such governments, Naqavi Hosseini said.

Iran is currently negotiating with European countries on preserving the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), after the U.S. pullout in May.

On Monday Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that it seems "that some European governments expect the Iranian nation to both put up with sanctions and give up its nuclear activities."

"I tell those (European) governments that this bad dream will never come true," Khamenei said.

The Iranian leader said Iran would not tolerate sanctions nor undergo "nuclear austerity."

Naqavi Hosseini said Tuesday "the United States brazenly violated the JCPOA and unilaterally withdrew from it."

After their move, the Iranian administration should have taken a reciprocal measure but considered a delay in action to allow for talks with the Europeans countries, he added.
